People are being warned to stay out of the water at beaches in Ladysmith and Lantzville because of high levels of bacteria that could make them sick.
Island Health has posted advisories for the north part of Transfer Beach in Ladysmith and Lantzville Beach near Benwaldun Road and the intersection of Sebastion and Harper roads.
The health authority said in a statement that the beaches are not technically closed to the public, but it is “highly recommended” that people stay out of the water after an advisory is issued.
Advisories issued last month at Oak Bay’s Willows Beach and Sayward Beach in Saanich’s Cordova Bay area are no longer in effect.
