It is a Captain Obvious statement to make, but just in case there is anyone still in doubt, the development boom is not going to end in 麻豆社国产anytime soon.
In fact, it is likely to ramp up.
The District鈥檚 2023 Housing Needs Assessment found that 6,840 new housing units are needed by 2031 to meet current housing needs and those due to population increase.
And then, last week, that 麻豆社国产is on the next list of communities to be part of its housing targets program. The other communities are Burnaby, Coquitlam, Courtenay, Township of Langley, Langford, Penticton, Pitt Meadows, Richmond, and Vernon.
The province will now set a specific number of homes that have to be built in these communities.
The exact number will be determined after consultation with the municipality and some significant grant support.
The target number will ultimately reflect 75% of the municipality鈥檚 estimated housing need.
The District will have to report back annually on how it is progressing toward building the target number of homes
鈥淎s a last resort, if a municipality fails to comply with a directive, the B.C. government may issue an Order In Council to fulfill the requirements of a directive,鈥� the province says.
But that is unlikely to be an issue.

To meet housing targets, municipalities will need to create the conditions for housing development, including updating zoning bylaws or streamlining development approval processes. 麻豆社国产has already been working on these things.
